Can I control the infrared projector to illustrate the enviroment with infrared light rather than emitting randorm pattern?
I want to detect some small object with infrared reflected materal on its surface. I want to control the infrared projector of realsense depth camera to illustrate the environment and then capture the reflected infrared light with a infrared-pass filter adde on the infrared sensor. I know the projector can emit some random infrared pattern to faciliate the depth calculation. I do not need this pattern. What I need is the projector can illustrate the environment.
Thanks a lot!
HI Yxliuwm If you wish to illuminate the scene with infrared light but do not need the dot pattern, the best solution for you may be to change the value of the Laser Power setting. This affects the visibility of the infrared dot pattern projection. Increasing the Laser Power value above makes the dot pattern more strongly visible and reducing Laser Power causes the dot pattern to become less visible.
If you can still see the dots at minimum laser power and you need the projector to be active so that it provides an IR light source, the only other action that you can likely take is to change the material type of the objects in the scene that are being observed, as the dot pattern can be less visible on some materials than others (for example, cardboard versus wood). This may not be practical to do though.
Another possibility, if you have the D415 model of RealSense camera, would be to use the RGB from the left infrared sensor stream instead of the infrared stream and apply a Visual Preset camera configuration called Left Imager Color w/o IR Pattern which removes the dot pattern from the left IR sensor.
