Intel Realsense D457 with Fakra connection

Hi Amy Chen It appears that the documentation that you quoted is about the Intel IPU6 MIPI camera.  That information would not be related to using the RealSense D457 camera in MIPI mode on a GMSL connection.

RealSense 400 Series cameras such as the D457 can work with any Intel or Arm processor, so using it with an Intel Alder Lake PS (which is now known instead as '12th Gen Intel Core Processors for IoT Edge') should not be a problem.

A discussion at the link below should be a helpful resource for setting up a system based around D457.

    https://github.com/IntelRealSense/librealsense/issues/10984

    The key requirements will be:

    1.  To purchase a compatible deserializer component to decode the streams at host-side.  The above discussion link states that products that contain Maxim MAX9296A deserializer technology are D457-compatible.

    2.  To use the 2.53.1 version of the RealSense SDK software and camera firmware driver version 5.14.0.0.

    3.  To port the RealSense D457 MIPI reference driver at the link below to work on the computer hardware and deserializer product that you are using.  The driver needs be converted by your developer team for use with your equipment because by default the driver is designed for use with the Jetson AGX Xavier computing board and Intel's own brand of deserializer product.

If use of a GMSL connection is not a requirement for your project then the D457 can also be used in USB mode, which does not require a deserializer or the MIPI driver.  In USB mode the D457 will be detected as and behave as a D455 camera, with the additional benefit of the IP65 water and dust protection.  Details of how to switch the D457 to USB mode are at the link below.

    Hi Marty

Because we have MAX9296 deserializer on our motherboard (ADL-PS).

We are following the steps for the attached "Realsense D457 Engineer release_2.doc" is a part of the "22WW34_IPU6ep_adl_ubuntu_engineering_release.zip".

The documentation mentions setting BIOS options with ADL-P platforms (not ADL-PS platforms). But the document does not explain the details clearly. I'm wondering what the correct BIOS settings we need to set. Is BIOS setup required?

If you have any feedback or relevant experience, please let us know.

    Thanks
