Position Tracking & the T265

Hi,

I have an application where i need to be able to tracking positionally and angularly. I have a T265 and this is pretty good at doing this. I now need to buy some more of these but it appears that they are no longer available. The T265 is my preference because of the slim size and the onboard processing.

Is there an equivalent Intel product with similar functionality from the currently available products please?

    Hi Dave,

     

    The suggested alternatives for T265 are D455 and D435i. These cameras include an IMU, which is necessary for SLAM and tracking applications. Additionally, they require using 3rd party SLAM system. We suggest you use Spatial Intelligence SDK from SLAMcore.

    As far as I am aware the D455 and D435i do not output positional data. Can you confirm this please?

    Hi Dave,

    Yes, D455 and D435i camera do not have built-in support for pose stream data.(position and angle). There are a range of ways to obtain pose of the camera or of an observed object though. Therefore, they require using 3rd party SLAM system.

    Yes, but the whole point of the processor on the T265 is that it does the processing for you. ie. your host computer doesn't need to do it. Are we saying that none of the current RealSense offerings support native 6-DoF tracking?
