Depth accuracy
Hi,
I have a question regarding the discontinuation of the L515 LiDAR camera and the depth accuracy of the current product range.
I am currently undertaking research relating to a collision detection system for a robotic arm. The arm will need to access rather intricate areas and so I need depth accuracy preferably of +/- 1.5cm. The L515 spec indicates that it is suitable for this - accuracy of 5-14mm through a range of 9m.
Looking at the range of currently supported cameras, they only have a depth accuracy of (<)2% at 4m - giving an error range of up to 8cm. The sensors are likely to be separate from the arm and at a distance of 2-4m from the object of interest.
Would you be able to provide some insight regarding the suitability of the current RealSense camera range for my use-case? And preferably some insight into any technical reasoning for the discontinuation of the L515 camera - as this seems like it would be a superior choice.
Many thanks.
