Hi Lucas  From the situation and symptoms that you have described, it is likely that your camera has become non-functional due to being stored inactive for a period of weeks / months.  In rare cases this can result in the hardware malfunctions that you describe.

In almost all cases the problem is unrecoverable because it is a hardware issue and not a software / firmware one.  There was one case with this issue where the camera was sent through the mail after the malfunction and had recovered its functionality by the time that it arrived.  So you could try placing the camera inactive in a warm location in case the issue is related to internal moisture in the device.  If that does not work then there is not an alternative action to try, unfortunately.

Hi Marty, and thank you for your answer!

In that case, I guess I will try to get rid of the possible internal moisture first before thinking about any exchange/refund.

Do you have more precise recommendations regarding the best way to do so? You wrote "warm location" but do you have a degree range in mind? Sunlight/no sunlight? In/out of the box? Just asking to do the best I can.

Also, for future usage, if I need to put the sensor aside for an extended period of time again, how should I store it to avoid this problem?

    Thank you again

There are not guidelines for a storage location.  In the small number of cases where the camera has stopped functioning after a period of inactive storage for weeks / months, the storage location has included closed-up places such as a cupboard, desk drawer and briefcase.  So it may be better to place the camera in an open location such as a shelf.

The data sheet document for the 400 Series cameras advises not to store the camera inactive in conditions with temperature lower than a minimum of 0 degrees C or higher than a maximum of 50 degrees C.

A popular piece of advice on the internet is to dry out moisture by placing devices in a bag of rice.  Do not do this as it could result in further hardware damage.

    Thank you for your answer.

I think I will let it out of the box on my desk for few days to see if it helps. Being at room temperature with some sunlight shouldn't hurt I guess.

    Hello Marty,

As a follow up to that, I just checked again to see if it was better today, and when I plugged it, I managed to get the depth stream at first before getting a "Right MIPI Error" after few seconds (with the stream still working).

Tried to restart the Viewer to see if I could get rid of the error, and I got the "Depth stream start failure" again, without the stream starting this time.

Is it a sign that it is slowly recovering? Should I keep trying every now and then or should I let it rest few days more before trying again?

    Thank you again

It does sound like there is slow improvement.  It may be worth giving it a few more days of sunlight to see how it progresses.
