SR300 firmware updated and is now detected as SR305
Hello,
I recently purchased a 3D scanner that uses a SR300. I discovered the Intel RealSense Viewer and clicked on "install recommended firmware" without really thinking about it. It is now detected by my computer as a SR305 and no longer works with the scanning software.
Does anyone know of a way to rollback the firmware?
Thanks.

Assuming that the scanner was not using a special version of the SR300 firmware, the best way to overwrite an older firmware would likely be to download the SR300 Depth Camera Manager (DCM). The SR300 DCM file (intel_rs_dcm_sr300_3.3.27.5718.exe) can be found at the bottom link in the side-panel of the page linked to below.

Running the DCM program (which requires Windows and will not work with Linux) normally installs all SR300 drivers (the firmware, plus the RGB, Depth and Virtual drivers).
If you do not want to install every driver, there is a process where you can force the DCM to only install the firmware, though it is a bit awkward. A member of the Intel RealSense support team posted a method for force-updating the R200 camera that belongs to the same generation of camera models as the SR300.

In the step that uses the filename intel_rs_dcm_r200_xxx.exe try intel_rs_dcm_sr300_xxx.exe instead
In the step that say to run FWUpdateR200.exe, run FWUpdateSR300.exe instead

Thank you for the quick response. I have already tried to install the SR300 DCM. It will not install because the computer does not see a SR300.
There is an option in the RealSense Viewer to update firmware from file. That seemed like it would be pretty easy, but maybe not.
I will let you know how it goes after I try your suggested method.
