Getting the SR305 to work with the SR300 DCM
So here's the deal. I got the SR305 because its what I need for the face tracking program I use (facerig) and for it to work I need to run the SR300 DCM.
Why I got the 305 and not the 300? Well. I assume with it just being the SR300 with a case it is still the same thing.
So here's my problem. When I run the SR300 DCM I get this.

The RealSense website has a guide to restoring the SR300 compatibility with old programs. It suggests downloading the DCM installer file (intel_rs_dcm_sr300_3.3.27.5718.exe) with a link in the guide called Download the driver that leads to a download page for the driver, but not running the driver with the normal double-leftclick method after it is downloaded.
Instead, go into the Windows Command Prompt and run the file using a special command.
intel_rs_dcm_sr300_3.3.27.5718.exe --ignore-fw-update --silent --no-progress --acceptlicense=yes
You can find the Command Prompt by going to the text box at the bottom of your Windows screen (next to the button in the corner where you shut down the PC) and typing 'command' into the text box.

As far as I know the DCM just acts as a driver and firmware installer. In 2017 Intel introduced automatic download and install of SR300 drivers in Windows when the camera was plugged into a USB port on an internet connected computer, making the DCM unnecessary except for PCs that did not have internet.
I knew of a method posted by a RealSense user for restoring the SR300's ability to work with old programs and had been searching for it for you. I finally managed to locate the link.
If you are using the free IRFacerig for RealSense, the main version of Facerig can work with ordinary webcams if you need the program and cannot get it working with your SR305, though it is a paid product.
