Quality of monochrome infrared video feed from L515
Hi folks,
Before purchasing the L515, I would like to get an impression of the quality of the infrared stream that comes from the device. How does this compare to a monochrome camera under IR light?
Could anyone share a short video with me, shot with the L515?

The L515 LiDAR camera designed for indoor use. The performance will be degraded if the user points the camera towards the window during the day. In general, avoid brightly sunlit locations. Indoor residential/commercial lighting is perfectly fine, as is complete darkness. When there is too much interfering IR light in the environment, the intensity image will look washed out and the depth map will have many holes (unknown depth values).To achieve maximum range results from the L515 the following conditions are recommended. The target must have 95% reflectivity for IR light at 860nm and be in the center of the frame. Ambient sunlight will have a significant effect on range. What I was hoping for is a video of the monochrome IR stream (see left-most screenshot below as an example). According to the user documentation there are three data streams coming from the L515 (see table below). I'm interested in the Infrared Y8 stream. To get an impression of the quality of this stream compared to a regular monochrome camera, it would be ideal to have a video. Do you happen to have a video recorded with the L515? Or could you make one?

I realize some additional background information may be useful:
Currently we are debating whether to choose for a time-of-flight depth camera or the L515. Next to depth information we need an IR monochrome video feed for our application. Time-of-flight cameras produce this video with their CMOS sensor. However, the L515 uses lidar to create such an image. Am I correct in assuming that the Y8 stream is in essence a video stream with a certain framerate? If so, I am very much interested in the quality, since the video is created with a different technique (lidar) than I am used to. Hence my request for a video.

Sorry for the delay in replying to you. The maximum range of the L515 depends on laser power, receiver gain, object material, and ambient light. The camera can achieve its maximum possible range with a highly reflective object in a space with no ambient light. The RGB Sensor Resolution and frame rate of the L515 are 1920 x 1080 at 30 FPS in the indoor environment.
