Intel RealSense D400 Camera OEM Calibration Target
Hello, I am currently working on a setup for the calibration of D435 cameras using the big calibration grid target I have some questions regarding the positioning. Here is the target I am working with :
In the documentation Intel RealSense D400 Series OEM Calibration User Guide, it is stated that the cameras must be placed in two locations for the calibration. The positions are stated here :
These locations are quite precise. However, some examples provided state "roughly aligned lines" :
So my question is this : which approach should I choose? Is some "rough" visual alignment enough to calibrate the camera or are the precise locations the way to go?
Kind regards,

Hi Tdodier,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
Referring to 3.6.3 Capture Images From Two Viewpoints in Best Known Methods for Optimal Camera Performance over Lifetime whitepaper, images from two viewpoints from pre-defined positions are required for the OEM calibration algorithm. Therefore, precise locations is recommended. Instructions to run OEM Calibration tool is available in Section 3.6 OEM Calibration Process in Best Known Methods for Optimal Camera Performance over Lifetime whitepaper.
Regards,
Wan
